a june trip to elgin, illinois was required to procure this mid-century classic item, designed by the Finish marvel, Kaj Franck. this Finish industrial designer headed up the Arabia company for many years, and his ethos was pretty straightforward- to be designated good and beautiful, an object had to be durable, robust, easy to clean, functional, do justice to the materials used for it, and indispensable. All superfluous decoration was eschewed.
this gorgeous porcelain glazed jug is about 6" tall and 8" wide, and in impeccable vintage condition. the darling stylized green and black cows stare right at you, but not in a creepy way, imploring you to fill up the jug with your favorite ice-cold beverage. the maker's mark (KL-2) is clearly stamped on the base, making it worthy of your mid-century collection. give it a home and it will reward you with years upon years of dedicated service.
