SOLD- 1971 Betty Crocker recipe box & card set- $19 SOLD

if betty crocker is the mother of true american cuisine, (and who says she isn't?)then this classic find is the missing link to all of her genius. it's a 1971 set of her recipe card library that takes you back in time- a time when pork chop scallop (potatoes, that is), sombrero pie, and bonnie butter cake ruled the dinner table. living was easy then... if you had a jar of pimentos, a single onion, and a can of cream of mushroom soup, you were golden. everything you'd ever want to prepare for your family and friends is included in this recipe set- some category highlights include: budget casseroles, men's favorites, impromptu party fare, and american classics. and they're all housed in a charming, hinged box that bears the trademark colors of the era- chartreuse and avocado. on the lid, the raised words "the betty crocker recipe card library" give you rock-solid assurance that you'll be cooking only the best food america has to offer. circa 1971, that is.

a rustic stool with great character and charm, stability and comfort. what more could you possibly ask for in a stool? it's all here, in a neatly hand-painted wood and metal package. stool height is 25 inches, though it appears to be adjustable. that is, if you can get a screwdriver into the painted-over screws.... SOLD- 1950's typewriter- $40

this little gem came to seattle in the early 1950's by way of the West German company Olympia Werke AG Wilhelmshaven. the Olympia Splendid 33 is a sharp looking, mid-century workhorse with an all-metal painted shell, and gleaming stainless steel guts. the gorgeous reddish brown keys give it a sweet look, but don't be fooled. when it comes to function, those West Germans don't mess around. it even comes with a UW University Book Store metal tag. i bet this typewriter was a best friend to some graduate student in the philosophy department back in the day. (original case included.)

SOLD- painted metal gooseneck desk lamp- $29

good looking desk lamps are tough to find, but look no further than this one. it's painted a yellowish tan color with a couple of perfectly placed bands of white. she's in tip top shape with only a few minor scuffs that give you the idea she's lived a pretty productive life. though clearly there's many good years left in her.

SOLD- set of 10 1950's Vapocan food storage containers- $12

back in the day, these penguin-logo'd containers were used to refrigerate your favorite wholesome, fresh foods. today, we have tupperware. i like today. but, i also really, really like these Vapocan waxed cardboard containers with clear plastic lids! there's a complete set of 10, all with the sweet blue penguin and cross-hatch motif. it's a real throwback to 1950's design. maybe use them this holiday season for gift boxes, or label each one and store your nails, screws, nuts and bolts in a neat, organized fashion. these will look great anywhere you put em.
